The Pinawa Chamber of Commerce has decided to NOT go ahead with the Pinawa Birthday Parade this year. With Covid-19 restrictions and a possible D-variant surge expected in the next few weeks we could not see a way to run a parade responsibly and safely while meeting current Provincial restrictions. Different routes and parade styles were discussed but the logistics were insurmountable. We are looking forward to a great 2022 parade.

About our speaker….Rhonda Henschell
I was born and raised in Pinawa, affectionately dubbing myself a “lifer” in Pinawa. I married my high school sweetheart Brent, and raised our two sons in Pinawa. My husband and I both work in Pinawa, myself as a part-time dental receptionist and my husband for the LGD of Pinawa as the Water Treatment Plant Operator. I am a graduate of the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba where I majored in Marketing and Small Business. My husband attended Red River College and studied Hotel & Restaurant Management. We have always owned and operated businesses in the community from property rentals, to operating a boat tour business, the Bald Eagle, to running our 50+ seasonal campground, Relax Ridge. I am starting my 9th year as an elected official and can honestly say that is has been very rewarding to be able to serve this community in this capacity. I am very excited about the opportunities for Pinawa and look forward to being a part of our successful future.

The Town of Pinawa is moving closer to becoming the world’s first community powered by a small modular reactor.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Training
Beausejour Brokenhead Development Corporation will be hosting a FDI Training – Level 2. This training is especially prepared for Economic Development Practitioners and Municipal Leaders to learn how to complete the Request for Information (RFI) to meet the Site Selector criteria and to be considered for further selection.
Often the companies are hiring Site Selectors to provide them the best location to invest. Reputable, well known site selectors have proven methodologies and produce impressive results in resolving the specific needs of their clients; they can consistently produce project results that directly benefit a company’s bottom line and therefore, large companies like Wal-Mart use site selectors extensively to search out new market opportunities. The Site Selectors are sending RFI to Economic Development Practitioners….and we NEED TO BE READY!!!

NetSet in Pinawa
Netset in Pinawa
—Posted February 25, 2017 – The Pinawa Chamber investigated the new internet provision promised by NetSet and sent a letter to Mayor, Council and PCDC January 31st to garner further information about their service. NetSet contacted the Chamber and gave two Executive members a Webinar on their proposed tower and network February 24. This Brandon-based business may bring competition to the region, and we believe competition is healthy – quite often it brings down prices and bumps up service. What NetSet seems to offer is better expandability in service with greater speeds as needed and paid for by the customer, compared to existing services. However, how factual those benefits are can only be verified after installation. NetSet may offer a free install to business customers at it’s inauguration. This new internet service based on TD-LTE microwave signals from a network of towers is of no cost to Pinawa. NetSet is a community friendly business with support for community gatherings and business employee benefits. NetSet’s offering will be beneficial to the region and a stimulus to grow Pinawa’s business community, thus the Pinawa Chamber of Commerce fully supports and welcomes NetSet’s arrival.
